What are the commonly used IGBT buffer circuits?

As power electronic devices have four working states: on, on, off and off, the OFF and on states bear high voltage and high current, respectively. During on and OFF, the switching devices may simultaneously bear overvoltage and overcurrent, excessive di/dt, du/dt and excessive instantaneous power. Therefore, in order to prevent the device from being damaged due to high voltage and high current, a buffer circuit is added to the circuit. The turn-off buffer circuit absorbs the turn-off overvoltage and commutation overvoltage of the device, suppresses the du/dt and reduces the turn-off loss. The conduction buffer circuit suppresses the current overshoot and di/dt when the device is turned on, and reduces the conduction loss of the device.
IGBT
In modern life, IGBT, as a completely controllable device, has been widely used. With the continuous improvement of its power and voltage level, it is particularly important to protect it. The peak voltage of turning off the IGBT is mainly caused by the presence of the distributed inductance in the main circuit. Excessive peak voltage will not only damage the IGBT, but also lead to its misleading. Therefore, it is very important to set a buffer circuit to absorb the peak voltage.
