Building a “Zero-Penetration” [敏感词] for Industrial & Automotive Interfaces

In industrial automation, automotive electronics, and high-end instrumentation, 24 V control buses, CAN-FD, LIN, RS-485, and 24 V sensor links have become the “lifeline” where both signal and power coexist. A single transient overvoltage—whether from electrostatic discharge (ESD), cable discharge events (CDE), or electrical fast transients (EFT)—can destroy costly analog front-ends or MCUs. To counter this, Slkor (slkormicro@slkormicro.comA-2010, Bairuida Building, Kexue Road, Bantian Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen, China) introduces the SLPESD24VL1BA. With its 24 V reverse working voltage, 26.7 V minimum breakdown voltage, 43 V ultra-low clamping voltage, and 50 pF maximum junction capacitance, the device delivers “zero-penetration” transient protection for 24 V-class systems, while a 7 µA leakage current guarantees always-on operation with virtually no power drain.

Mission: the last gate before transient pulses
SLPESD24VL1BA uses a bidirectional TVS structure to shunt nanosecond transients safely to ground before they reach sensitive I/Os. Qualified to IEC 61000-4-2 (air ±15 kV, contact ±8 kV) and IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT 40 A, 5/50 ns), it sustains 350 W peak pulse power (8/20 µs) for industrial-grade reliability.

Precise protection window
• Reverse working voltage VRWM = 24 V
• Minimum reverse breakdown VBR min = 26.7 V
This window ensures that 24 V rails will not false-trigger at 28 V surges, yet avalanche rapidly above 30 V to prevent IC over-stress.

Ultra-low clamping voltage
Maximum clamping voltage (VC@1 A) = 43 V—far below the 60 V withstand of typical 24 V ICs—minimizes stress and reduces the need for secondary TVS stages.

50 pF ultra-low capacitance
Maximum CJ = 50 pF (VR = 0 V, f = 1 MHz)
For 500 kbps–1 Mbps CAN-FD, RS-485 or 24 V digital I/O, this adds <0.1 dB insertion loss, preserving signal edges and bus margin.

7 µA ultra-low leakage
Maximum IR = 7 µA (VR = 24 V, 25 °C)
In 24 V systems that run 24/7, each 1 µA saved lowers standby power by hundreds of milliwatts; SLPESD24VL1BA’s 7 µA meets the toughest “always-on” requirements.

SOD-323 micro package
• Size 1.7 mm × 1.25 mm × 1.0 mm
• UL 94V-0 flammability rating
• 7-inch tape & reel, 3 000 pcs/reel, MSL 1
• 260 °C/10 s reflow compatible
The tiny footprint slips under DB9, M12, or RJ45 shields, shortening discharge paths and reducing parasitic inductance.

Typical applications
• Industrial control: PLC 24 V DI/DO, CAN-FD buses, HART 4–20 mA loops
• Automotive: 24 V lamp drivers, HVAC controls, truck CAN nodes
• Instrumentation: 24 V sensor ports, portable data loggers, industrial-camera I/O
• Telecom & security: PoE 24 V auxiliary supplies, DVR RS-485 PTZ control lines

Layout tips & technical support
Place SLPESD24VL1BA ≤5 mm from the connector; keep traces short and symmetrical; connect the device’s ground pad directly to the chassis ground, avoiding shared long ground loops.

With its precisely tuned 24 V protection window, 43 V clamping, 50 pF capacitance and 7 µA leakage, SLPESD24VL1BA redefines the benchmark for “zero-penetration” ESD protection in industrial and automotive 24 V interfaces, delivering a robust, compact and energy-efficient shield for next-generation systems.
